Teacher Aide Professional Learning and Development

Upskill as a Teacher Aide to better support learners and their needs

The Teacher Aide Professional Development and Learning (TA PLD) initiative provides free, accessible, high-quality online professional learning for all teacher aides. 

This new TA PLD focuses on building teacher aides’ ability to support Year 1 learners | ākonga with unmet needs. Teacher aides will learn how and why behaviours present and how to use practical strategies to support learner engagement and keep the classroom running smoothly. 

Eligibility

Participation in the training is open to all teacher aides. 
Reimbursement funding will be available to teacher aides who work in state or state-integrated primary or area schools | kura and support Year 1 ākonga as part of their role.

You can request reimbursement through the TA PLD fund using an online application form. This is provided on a first-come, first-served basis until the funds are expended or until 30 June 2028. 

Eligible teacher aides are reimbursed for learning time based on the average time to complete the training, regardless of whether the training is completed inside or outside of paid working hours. 
 

More information on the initiative and application process will be provided soon. We expect applications to open by the end of Term 2, with modules becoming available in Term 3.
