Kaiārahi i te Reo and Therapist Collective Agreement Negotiation
Update on Collective Agreement negotiation for Kaiārahi i te reo and Therapist staff in state and state-integrated schools11 December
The Ministry of Education has been negotiating with NZEI Te Riu Roa in good faith regarding the approximately 300 people working as Kaiārahi i te reo and Therapist staff in state and state-integrated schools.
Hautū - Ohumahi Mātauranga | Deputy Secretary - Education Workforce, Anna Welanyk, said the offer to the union mirrors the offer to Support Staff in that is focused on lifting remuneration for those who are not already receiving increases in pay through annual increments.
Our offer is for a 3-year agreement and provides increases to pay as follows:
- A total increase of 3.3% over 3 years for staff who are paid at the maximum available step for their role, since no increase would otherwise be available to them.
This offer will affect approximately 50% of staff covered by the collective agreement with the other 50% already receiving contractual entitlements of annual service-based pay increases ranging from between 5.3% and 16.4% over the three-year term of the agreement.
The offer also includes ongoing work to develop guidance to strengthen employment practices, to support those in fixed term and term-time only employment.
“We understand the offer has been rejected; however, we will continue working with NZEI in good faith.”
