National Beginning Teacher Induction Grant

The grant supports the induction and mentoring of beginning teachers. It is ending in June 2024

Grant ending 30 June 2024

The application period for the National Beginning Teacher Induction Grant closed on 31 March 2024. Payments of approved grants will be processed by 30 June 2024, at which point the grant programme will end.

The grant has similar purposes to 2 current initiatives: the BeTTER Jobs Programme and the Beginning Teacher Time Allowance – both of which support the induction and mentoring of beginning teachers.

BeTTER Jobs Programme

From 1 July 2024, the full amount of funding used for the National Beginning Teacher Induction Grant will be reprioritised to fund the BeTTER Jobs Programme, which offers greater incentives to schools | kura and teachers.

Beginning Teacher Time Allowance 

This allowance provides additional staffing entitlements to your school, which enables you to release the teacher for professional advice and guidance programmes.

Your school or kura is eligible for the Beginning Teacher Time Allowance if you are employing a beginning teacher and meet the requirements of the allowance.  .
