Area School Principals' Sabbatical

To apply for an Area School Principals' Sabbatical, you must:

• be employed as an area school principal in a New Zealand state or state-integrated school
• be employed under the Area School Principals’ Collective Agreement (ASPCA) or applicable individual employment agreement (IEA)
• have completed at least 5 years' service as a principal in a New Zealand state or state-integrated school
• have the support of your school board or employer, including any agreed costs.

We give preference to applicants who meet the eligibility and assessment criteria and who have not received a study award or sabbatical in the last 5 years. 

Programme outline

Provide a programme outline for the period of the sabbatical.

Time commitments

Explain your sabbatical plan and timeframes. The planned work should occupy 50% of your time over the sabbatical period.

Benefits of sabbatical

Outline the benefits of your sabbatical activities to yourself, your students, your school, and your community. Your proposal should specify the expected nature of the benefits of the sabbatical, including the impact on students’ learning outcomes.  

Costing schedule

Provide a detailed costing schedule for your proposal, if your school board is covering some or all costs associated with your sabbatical.

Reporting

Describe how you will share your sabbatical findings and who you will share them with.

You will have a 250-word limit for each question. You will also need to provide generic employment information on the form.
