Payroll remediation for current school employees
Find out about payroll remediation payments to current school employeesIf you are a current school employee and due a payment, we will contact you using the email address held in the payroll system.
Not every employee will be affected. Individual work patterns and situations are unique, so each case is different.
Receiving a payment
Your payment will be included in your normal pay.
We will email you a password-protected document on the payment date with details about your payment. Use your seven-digit Ministry of Education (MoE) number to open the attachment.
We will pay any money owed – even small amounts – to ensure everyone receives their entitlements. Length of service is not always a factor in whether money is due, or the size of any payment.
Tax, deductions and changes to your income
Income tax and ACC contributions are deducted using the tax code in the payroll system.
If you are a member of a KiwiSaver scheme, employee and employer contributions are calculated as part of the payment process. Student loan repayments are deducted as required by law.
You can contact Inland Revenue or the Ministry of Social Development for advice about whether this payment affects any benefits, tax credits or other support payments you receive or make.

Keeping yourself safe from phishing scams
Phishing is when someone uses an email, text or phone call to try to get access to sensitive information (like bank account numbers and passwords).
For schools payroll remediation payments, we will never ask you for your bank account login and password. The information you receive from us will direct you to a Ministry of Education website.
You can learn more about phishing scams on the Netsafe website.
