Schools payroll remediation overview

We are working to pay any money owed to current and former employees who haven't been paid in line with contracts and/or legislation

The Ministry has several remediation projects underway. This work is complex and will continue over the next several years.

Not every employee will be affected. Individual work patterns and situations are unique, so each case is different. 

If you’re owed money, we’ll contact you when you’re about to receive a payment.

We are working to pay current and former school employees who did not receive all money due for leave and holidays

Employees included

Our schools payroll remediation programme covers current and former employees paid through the schools payroll.

All state and state-integrated schools must use the schools payroll to pay teachers. Some schools opt out of using the schools payroll for non-teaching staff. If you are unsure if you are paid through the schools payroll, you can check with your school administrator or principal.

The early childhood education and tertiary sectors are not included in this work.
